Art world icon Cindy Sherman has teamed up with M.A.C to create the imagery for their collection of colours that will be available come September. M.A.C is particularly thrilled with the partnership, saying that “with a colourful palette of possibilities, You are the Artist, You are your own Subject, and no matter how fearfully you begin, you become fearless in the process.”
This notion is no better realized than in Sherman’s work, and the campaign features three different characters portrayed by the photographer, and explores personas you wouldn’t find in a typical beauty story: a Hitchcock heroine, a Park Avenue plastic surgery victim, and a fresh corpse.
A leopard-clad blonde is bronzed and bold-lipped; a brightly-painted clown rocks eye shadows and pigments like “Magenta Madness” and “Blue Candy”; and a wide-mouthed brunette is bright eyed and rosy cheeked. Beyond striking, this is probably M.A.C’s most adventurous collaboration to date (sorry, Gaga).
And even though the photos for the collection are ultra eye-catching, the colours within the line range from brights to muted neutrals, so no matter what your style, you can still become your own work of art.
Available from September 29th – October 27th, 2011.
