THE GORDON SISTERS TELL A BEAUTIFULLY DARK TALE

With the drone of the Velvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs” in the background, the Chloé Comme Parris show began with a slew of sullen girls slinking past in romantic, gothic garb.
Floral and Arts and Crafts-inspired patterns were pitted against more edgy pieces, from motorcycle jackets to slim trousers embellished with metallic balls. Waistlines were dropped or obscured altogether, with pleats and oversized silhouettes keeping things from veering to the saccharine side (appropriate for a show entitled “Beautiful Badass”).
Parris Gordon, who creates the jewellery elements for the line, played up the dark tone of the collection with bracelets fashioned into brace-like harnesses; juxtaposed with a long, flowing dress, it made for a perfect balance of prettiness and punk.
