Beirut “The Rip Tide”
The video for the title track from Beirut’s latest critically acclaimed album takes you on a magical journey through the open waters, where colours explode in the sky and meld together to create the most magnificent landscape; truly a work of art.
Glam rock band SSION (pronounced “SHUN”) are perusing the scene, putting out quirky videos with bursts of colour and eccentric characters (my favourite: a plush easter-bunny that loves to clean). Record out on Dovecote, September 18th.
Blaqstarr “She Is Love” (Dirty South Remix)
Blaqstarr’s latest “She Is Love” is the soundtrack for fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring/Summer 2012 video. Featuring supermodel Agyness Deyn – the track serves as a bubbly little number, perfect for the bleached blonde beauty to dance around to. Now the song has been stripped down and remixed and is currently available on iTunes. Blaqstarr’s forthcoming album Here We Are drops this fall on N.E.E.T/Interscope.
Donnis “Hello Kitty”
The first track off of his forthcoming EP Break Hundreds and Hearts, “Hello Kitty” pays homage to the wonder and beauty of female parts – although stated much more crassly. “Hello Kitty is a club rap anthem that is destined to rattle trunks and grease stripper poles”. You’ll see what I mean…
Teen Daze “Brookyln Sunburn”
All Of Us, Together, Vancouver electro group Teen Daze’s first full length LP has been most appropriately deemed as an “auditory utopia”. Beautifully weaving in and out of sounds, All Of Us, Together is a concise, euphoric piece of music. Record out now.
Cat Power “Ruin”
“Ruin” is the first track off of Cat Power’s first album in over six years - Sun. One of the more anticipated records of the year, front-woman Chan Marshall performed and produced Sun herself in various locations including a studio she built in Malibu. Album drops September 4th.
