DEBUT ALBUM REVIEW
Story by Laura Cappe
Giants and Dreamers – the first full-length release from Toronto boys Bravestation (dropped today) is the perfect summer soundtrack. The mix of ambient rhythms, tropical beats, New Wave styled guitar rifts, and vibrant harmonies is like a sonic long island iced tea – an enjoyable combination of musical ingredients that make your head buzz.
The album came together like patches for a quilt, each member bringing their own artistic piece to it after working on it separately in the comfort of their own homes. The result is a sunny little slice of lo-fi dream pop, that will warm the ears of cottagers, beach bums and ease those Sunday summer morning hangovers. As the band so clearly dabbled with experimentation Giants and Dreamers propels the imagination – a solid piece to put on the shelf for Canadian indie fans.
Their CD release show is this Saturday, July 7 at The Drake Underground (Toronto) at 10PM.
