TRACER OUT TODAY

Story by Ashley Lewis

Teengirl Fantasy is releasing their second album, Tracer, today. The techno/pop/house tracks shower the album with tranquility, an overwhelming emotion that protrudes from the core of each song.

They crafted the melody and the raw sounds on this album to meld during the peak moment of imperfection. “Eternal” and “Inca” are good examples of this. You’ll find it hard to understand why certain beats and sounds are being meshed together. They are in no way a marriage of two sounds, more like two very different songs playing on top of each other, but as soon as you consider forwarding to the next track they flawlessly collide.

“End” is probably the most beautiful song on the record. The melancholic keyboard combined with the obscure electronic beat forges an idiosyncratic tune that is nothing short of brilliant.

The feature artists on this album really compliment Teengirl Fantasy’s multifaceted sound. The album would be powerful without any singing but the diversity of each guest vocal adds variety to Teengirl Fantasy’s already eccentric character. “Do it” featuring Romanthony, is a traditional house track, where “EFX” featuring Kelela has a Pop/R&B sound.

Tracer could honestly replace any sound synthesizer and help relax anyone before bed.
