DEBUT SOLO ALBUM OUT ON PAPER BAG RECORDS

Story by Jordan White

While Luke Lalonde had down time from the Born Ruffians, he was busy recording his debut solo album in various living rooms in Toronto and Montreal. Rhythymnals is full of catchy indie-pop songs, and is evidence of Lalonde’s talent and passion for creating unique, thoughtful songs.

The first track, “Grand (Rhythymnals)” sets the tone with a multitude of beats and back up vocals. Lalonde experiments with a range of beats, often in the intros of the tracks, where elements of soul, folk and electro can be heard.

The track “Shove Off” is likely to stick in your head. Rhythymnals is a good album to throw on at work or at home; it’s a good listen from start to finish.

If you’re a Born Ruffians fan, don’t worry; their new album is set for release 2013.
