TOMORROW NIGHT: DRESS-TO-THE NINES TO PARTY IN SUPPORT OF CANADA’S EMERGING OPERA TALENT
Story by Megan Leahy
One of Toronto’s most anticipated nights of the year, Operanation is finally here! Following in the footsteps of the likes of Broken Social Scene and Rufus Wainwright, this year Nelly Furtado and the Arkells will perform alongside the Canadian Opera Company’s (COC) Ensemble Studio.
The event has always been both a showcase and celebration of Canadian talent, bridging together a range of music genres. But it is also a reminder that opera is truly a fusion of art forms. Productions rely equally on music, theatre, visual art and fashion; a fashion installation will feature original and contemporary versions of traditional operatic costumes, as imagined by selected emerging design talent from the School of Fashion at Ryerson University.
Indulge in signature cocktails and macaroons in the theme of Sweet Revenge, the night is a great excuse to dress to the max. Over 1,000 guests are set to take over three floors of the the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts; the space alone guarantees a fun party! Tickets are still available, but time is running short when it comes to picking out an outfit!
Purchase last minute tickets online or call 416-306-2309. Funds raised for Operanation are directed towards the COC’s Ensemble Studio, Canada’s premier training program for young opera professionals.
